Born on 3rd June 1999, the French defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, has made a bit of a name for himself in German football. Playing mainly as a central defender, the 26-year-old currently turns out for Stuttgart, where he stands combining both physicality and finesse on account of being 6ft 4in (1.95m) tall, and weights 13st 9lb (87kg). Adorned frequently with the number 23 jersey, Zagadou certainly commands presence on the football pitch.
According to data provided by Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at approximately £1.7m. A tidy sum indeed, though a testament to his underlying quality.
Zagadou's entry into professional football was facilitated by Paris Saint-Germain, the French Ligue 1 team, where he joined as a trainee in July 2014. However, it was with his transfer to Borussia Dortmund in Germany's Bundesliga in July 2017 that Zagadou began to demonstrate his potential. Over the course of five seasons at Dortmund, Zagadou made 67 first team appearances, scoring four goals in the process.
In September 2022, he transferred to Stuttgart, also in the Bundesliga. His stint at Stuttgart has seen him produce fairly regular performances, having made 55 first-team appearances across four seasons thus far, including one goal as an added bonus. Today, his current season with Stuttgart (2025-2026), has been showing signs of promise with two appearances already under his belt.
Additional to his domestic exploits, Zagadou also had the honour of representing Stuttgart in the Europa League in the 2025-2026 season, where he made an appearance off the substitutes' bench. With his career still in progress, time will tell what heights this sturdy defender will reach.
