Dan Casey, born on 29th of October, 1997 (now 27 years old), is a hailing from the Republic of Ireland and presently holds the fort as a central defender for Motherwell. Standing at a sturdy 6ft (1.85m) and weighing in at 13st 5lb (85kg), he dons the number 15 jersey. His current market value is estimated at approximately £340k, as per Transfermarkt. It should be noted that his contract with Motherwell is due to expire rather imminently, on the 31st of May, 2025.
Casey came into prominence on the football field with Bohemian FC in the Rep. Ireland's Premier Division when he joined in July of 2017. In his debut season, he was seen on the pitch in first team league matches four times. He started to flex his goal-scoring muscles in the 2018 season with two goals from 11 appearances. Casey was a regular fixture on the first team for Bohemian FC in 2020, making 15 appearances.
In a rather opaque transfer move in January 2019, Casey shifted alliances from Bohemian FC to Cork City in the First Division. The season proved fruitful for Casey as he netted three times in 29 league matches. A year later, Casey returned to Bohemian FC where his performance echoed his previous stint.
In 2021, his career took flight, quite literally, as he moved from the Republic of Ireland to the United States, joining the Sacramento Republic in the USL. His American adventure, however, was cut short as he made his way back across the pond, joining Scotland's Motherwell side in February 2023.
His initial season (2022-2023) with Motherwell saw him make 12 league appearances, a number that more than doubled in the subsequent season, alongside scoring three goals. A pattern emerges as the current season (2024-2025) finds Casey once again on the pitch in 12 league games, this time with a single goal to his name. The League Cup for the year 2024-2025 saw Casey continue his trend of scoring, netting one goal in seven starts for Motherwell.
Amidst the to and fro of clubs, we see no time that Casey spent trodding the sacred ground of Celtic Park. His journey, while not intersecting with the Celtic route, stands as a testament to a player carving his own niche in the footballing spectrum.
