He's no Bobby Moore, but Connor Allan, born of the Scottish soil on an otherwise uneventful day in January 2004, fills out a football shirt in his own unpretentious way. A defender by trade, specifically of the central variety, Allan wafts about the field like a tartan bedsheet on a windy day. His current abode is Falkirk, where he can often be seen bodging together defensive strategies whilst sporting a number 20 jersey. His stature, 6 foot 2 inches (or 1.89 meters in that awful metric they use on the continent), and his weight, a commendable 12 stone 1 pound (or 77 kilos for those that survive on garlic and surrender), leave him rather impossible to overlook.
Now, to talk about the spondulicks, Allan is apparently worth a whopping £80k, at least as claimed by the often accurate, but seldom prophetic Transfermarkt. Whatever happened to the times when a sack of coal and a couple of flat caps was an acceptable transfer fee?
In the sunny month of July 2019, Allan decided to embrace the hues of blue at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. While a far cry from the Hoops, his move was all about learning his trade. Being realistic, it was a bit like setting aside haggis for a can of spam, but nevertheless, he had to find his way.
Fast forward to September 2024, our brave young lad found himself shipped off on loan to Kelty Hearts in the homely surroundings of Scottish League One. Just when you thought Allan couldn't add another notch of unpredictability to his rather puzzling career, he moved again, this time to Falkirk in February 2025 for a fee shrouded in as much secrecy as the formula for Irn Bru.
If that wasn't enough of a merry journey, Allan was sent ricocheting back to Kelty Hearts in the same month on loan, before making his triumphant return to Falkirk in June 2025, having completed his second spell at Kelty Hearts.
Hardly a marquee signing, Allan managed to scrape together a handful of appearances for Falkirk in the League Cup 2025-2026, recording a single start and three cameos as a substitute. An identical tale was to be told of his stint in the Scottish Cup 2025-2026. All in all, it has been a career of what-might-have-beens, of battles fought and lessons learned. One thing is certain, Celtic wear a shade of green that our Allan has yet to experience.
