Ah, Coll Donaldson, I remember him well. Given birth by some unknown (but no doubt wonderful) Scottish woman on the 9th of April, 1995. That makes him 29 now, can't believe how time flies. Scotland, I'll have you know, can boast of being the land of his birth. A defender by trade (with a fondness for the central position), he spends his time on the park running around for Falkirk. Quite a figure, standing at 6ft 2in (that's 1.88m for you metric fans) and carrying a weight of 12st 12lb (or 82kg, if you prefer).
Whilst at Falkirk, he sports the number 6 shirt as if it's gone out of fashion, even though his contract there's got only 1 year and 3 months left to run, set to bid adieu on 31 May 2026.
He got his start in the trade back in July 2012, pulling on the Livingston shirt (they play in Scotland’s Championship, for the unfamiliar). In the 2012 - 2013 season, he was still a bit green, only managing five league games. The following season, he looked a bit more comfortable, putting 19 appearances under his belt and even scoring a goal.
And then, in January 2014, Coll thought he was off to find stardom down South, waving goodbye to Livingston and saying hello to Queens Park Rangers. The grand old Championship club from England lured him in with a fee of around £150k, but he made all of one solitary appearance in the league that season.
Realising English football wasn't for him, in July 2015, Donaldson hopped on a train back to Scotland, signing for Dundee United (another team that plays top-tier stuff, the Premiership). First season, managed 18 appearances in the league. Second season, 14 games.
Then, in August 2017, he transferred to Inverness CT, who were battling it out in League One and make 16 league appearances during the 2017 - 2018 season.
Donaldson’s journey continued in January 2020, when he made his way over to Ross County, another Scottish Premiership outfit, for an undisclosed fee. Over three seasons, he made a total of 37 league appearances and scored a single goal.
January 2022, the footloose footballer then ended up transferring to Dunfermline Athletic in the Championship on loan. In June 2022, his loan time expired, he returned to Ross County.
But Mr.Donaldson clearly couldn't stay put, could he? In July 2022, he made his latest move, this time to Falkirk in the Championship. So far, he’s played in 38 matches over 2 seasons and even managed to score a goal.
Donaldson has also had his boots on for Falkirk in the League Cup 2024 - 2025, making 3 starts and playing once in the Scottish Cup.
Quite the journeyman, our Coll. But then again, aren't we all?
