Christopher Jullien, born on the 22nd of March, 1993, is a French defender who primarily operates in the central defender position for Montpellier. Standing at an impressive height of 1.96m (6ft 5in) and weighing 88kg (13st 12lb), the robust defender can be easily singled out in crowd, sporting the number 6 jersey.
Beginning his professional journey in July 2012, Jullien joined Auxerre in the elite French Ligue 1, where he made considerable impact in his debut season 2012-2013, clocking 25 appearances and scoring twice for his team.
Subsequently, his growing reputation prompted a move to Germany as he joined Bundesliga side, SC Freiburg in July 2013. However, match appearances at Freiburg were a rarity for Jullien and he managed only a single first-team outing in league matches during the 2014-2015 season.
Seeking regular football, he made a return to France on loan to join Dijon in the Championnat National for the 2015-2016 season. At Dijon, Jullien had a considerably successful spell, marking himself in the scoresheet 9 times across 34 appearances.
Jullien then sealed a permanent move to Toulouse in the French Ligue 1 in July 2016. He was transferred for a fee of around ÂŁ2.3m and went on to feature prominently for the French team with consistent appearances and a handful of goals over the next few seasons, before the allure of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership became irresistible.
In July 2019, Celtic made a ÂŁ7m investment in Jullien. His time at Celtic was fairly successful, with him making 37 first team appearances and netting 5 goals in league matches over the course of two seasons (2019-2021). The French defender was part of Celtic for two seasons before he was transferred to Montpellier in the French Ligue 1 in August 2022 for an undisclosed fee.
Since his move to Montpellier, Jullien has remained a constant fixture in their line-up, making 50 appearances and scoring once over the course of two seasons. As of the current 2024-2025 season, he has yet to make a first-team appearance in league matches.
