Reilly started his career in football as a trainee with Hamilton Academical in July 2017. After training and honing the skills of the beautiful game, he found himself being loaned out to Airdrieonians in August 2019 where he featured in the Championships. His loan spell ended in January 2020, where he returned back to his original club, Hamilton.
No sooner had he returned, in October 2020, he made a change moving to Partick Thistle. From there, his journey with the ball at his feet took him to Albion Rovers in July 2021. His inaugural season (2022 - 2023) was nothing short of spectacular, with him making 26 first team appearances and scoring an impressive 18 goals in league matches.
His performances caught the attention of Dundee and in July 2023, he made a move to play in the Premiership. His seasons at Dundee ranged from consistent to moderate with a combination of seven, six and in the ongoing season, two first team appearances in league matches. Meanwhile, he was loaned out twice, first to Arbroath in February 2024 and then to Inverness CT in October 2024, which saw varied levels of appearances and contributions.
Charlie made a brief return to Dundee upon the completion of his two loan spells. In the second loan spell to the Premiership at Dundee, he managed to participate in the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025, albeit with just a single appearance as a substitute.
