Calum Waters was born in Glasgow on 10 March 1996 (age 30) and came through at Celtic as a trainee before his senior career took shape elsewhere. A left back, he left Celtic in July 2016 for Alloa Athletic, a sensible enough move for a young player needing regular football rather than a name on a development list.
That first spell at Alloa gave him his busiest league campaign, with 36 appearances and one goal in 2016-17. He later had spells with Kilmarnock and Greenock Morton, gaining the kind of lower-league and Scottish Premiership experience that tends to round off a full-back’s education without attracting much fuss.
Waters has since become more settled again at Alloa Athletic, wearing squad number 59 and continuing on the left side of defence. In 2026-27, he has made four League One appearances and four Championship play-off appearances for Alloa, scoring once in the play-offs.
His career has run from Celtic’s academy to a more established senior role away from Glasgow, with Alloa the club where he has found his clearest run of regular football.
