Ah, Brody Paterson. Born on a crisp spring day in late April of 2001. A sprout of iambic meter away from joining us in the 2000's. He is Scottish by birth. For those with a penchant for numbers, he graces our blessed earth for 23 years now.
Paterson is a left-back patrolling the lines with Kelty Hearts. His profession, ostensibly, is that of a defender. His height may not bedazzle you with awe, standing at a very humanly 5ft 10in (1.78m for the europhilic among us). And he weighs a trifle over 10 stones (67kg for anyone still using Napoleonic measurements).
If you run your hands over the pages of Paterson's career, you'll find he cut his teeth at Celtic, joining them as a trainee back in July 2017. A few years of fluctuating fortunes saw Paterson leaving Celtic on loans seemingly as frequently as seasons changed.
First stop in the rent-a-player adventure was Queen's Park in October of 2020. But the grass wasn't much greener in the Championship, so off he was again, off to Airdrieonians. January 2022, it was. But every journey must end, and in July 2022, Celtic finally decided to let young Paterson fly away.
Hartlepool United were the welcoming arms. Sure, it was the National League in England, but bigger men have started smaller. Eleven first team appears was his tally in the debut season. Not bad, not bad at all.
But can you guess what is up next? That's right, more loans. In January 2023, he moseyed over to Cove Rangers in League One. Only two matches played but, hey, even professionals need rest, right?
Back to Hartlepool in June 2023. Prodigal son returns and all that jazz. Strangely, and I was as shocked as you, his records show again eleven first team appearances. Despite the joyful reunion, January 2024 found him transferred to Kelty Hearts on yet another loan.
Well, it seems like Paterson found a place to his liking. Nine first team appearances in, he made his stay at Kelty Hearts permanent in July 2024. A stirring saga of our traveling left-back ends here. For now.
He has also graced the pitch in both the League Cup and the Scottish Cup for Kelty Hearts. The future will tell us where this adventurer will head next. But for now, he is kicking it in Kelty.
