Branco van den Boomen, born on 21 July 1995 in the Netherlands, is a midfielder known for his work as a central midfielder for Ajax. Standing a commanding 6ft 2in tall (1.89m) and at a healthy weight of 11st 11lb (75kg), van den Boomen has made a name for himself in the field of football. Fortuitously, he bears the number 21 jersey, coincidentally reflecting both his birthday and his position on the pitch.
According to Transfermarkt, his current market value hovers around £3m, and he is contracted to Ajax up until the 30th of June 2027.
Van den Boomen began his professional career in earnest with the Jong Ajax team in his homeland during the 2013-2014 season, making 15 first team appearances and scoring his debut goal. His journey then took him to FC Eindhoven in the 2014-2015 season where he showed a marked improvement, appearing 37 times and netting four goals.
Over the subsequent seasons, van den Boomen continued to develop his skills and reputation with stints at Heerenveen, Willem II and a return to FC Eindhoven. This culminated in his impressive record in the 2019-2020 season at De Graafschap and Toulouse, where he made 59 first team appearances and scored a commendable 17 goals over two years.
Back in his home country with Ajax, his growth as a player continued in the 2023-2024 season with twenty-one appearances and a pair of goals under his belt. The next season saw him with twelve appearances and now, in the 2025-2026 season, we look forward to seeing van den Boomen continue to succeed with Ajax.
Throughout his career, van den Boomen has also gained experience in other competitions, including the Europa League and Conference League for Ajax, scoring in both competitions, as well as taking part in the KNVB Beker.
