Brad Lyons, born 26 May 1997 in Northern Ireland, is a central midfielder currently playing for Kilmarnock. This industrious player stands at 6 feet (1.83m) tall and weighs 11st 13lb (76kg). He proudly dons the number 8 jersey and has had the privilege of representing the Northern Ireland national team.
Lyons' career in professional football began in July 2014 when he joined Coleraine in the Northern Irish Premiership as a trainee. He promptly showed his potential in his debut season (2014 - 2015), making 11 first team appearances and scoring two goals. In subsequent seasons, his contributions became increasingly significant, with 30 appearances and four goals in the 2015 - 2016 season, followed by 24 appearances and five goals in 2016 - 2017, before contributing three goals in 17 appearances in the 2017 - 2018 season.
In a somewhat abrupt change, September 2018 saw Lyons transfer on loan from Coleraine to Blackburn Rovers, competing in the English Championship. Just a few months later, in January 2019, the move became permanent with Lyons transferring to Blackburn for an undisclosed fee. However, this tenure was short-lived as later that same month, he was loaned to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Here, he made a notable contribution during his loan stint, earning 15 first team appearances and scoring one goal in league matches for the 2018 - 2019 season.
Upon the conclusion of his loan, Lyons returned to Blackburn in June 2019. His time here was again brief, as in January 2021 he was loaned out once more, this time to Morecambe in the English National League. Yet, by July 2021, Lyons had found a new permanent home, transferring from Blackburn Rovers to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
Lyons has since established himself as a vital player for Kilmarnock, with consistent first-team appearances and regular goal contributions. In the 2022 - 2023 season, he made 19 first team appearances and scored one goal, followed by 23 first team appearances and two goals in the 2023 - 2024 season, and 31 first team appearances and one goal in the 2024 - 2025 season. Currently, in the 2025 - 2026 season, Lyons has made three first team appearances in league matches. Notably, his performance at other competitions has been commendable as well, notably the League Cup 2025 - 2026, Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025, Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024 and Nations League 2024 - 2025, where he registered contributions as both a starter and a substitute.
As such, Brad Lyons, with his hard work and perseverance, has been carving out a reputation as a tenacious and reliable midfielder.
