Born on 26 May 1997 (age 27) in Northern Ireland, Brad Lyons has established himself as a proficient midfielder, presenting a strong presence in the centre for his current club Kilmarnock. He stands at a notable 6 feet (1.83 meters) and weighs 11 stone 13 pounds (76KG). Renowned in his current position, Lyons dons the number 8 jersey and has also represented the Northern Ireland national team.
Lyons embarked on his football journey in July 2014 with Coleraine in Northern Ireland's Premiership, joining them as a trainee. His debut season 2014-2015 saw him making 11 appearances and netting two goals in league matches. Subsequent seasons witnessed his steady progression. He made 30 first team appearances in the 2015-2016 season, scoring four goals and following it up with five goals in 24 appearances in the 2016-2017 season. In the 2017-2018 season, he made 17 appearances and scored three goals.
In the spirit of progression, Lyons moved from Coleraine to Blackburn Rovers in England's Championship on loan in September 2018. By January 2019, Blackburn Rovers were sufficiently impressed to secure Lyons' services permanently from Coleraine for an undisclosed fee.
Later that same year, Lyons undertook another loan transfer, moving North to join St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. Here he produced a commendable display, featuring 15 times and recording one league goal in the 2018-2019 season. Following his spell with St Mirren, Lyons returned to his parent club, Blackburn Rovers, in June 2019.
Lyons extended his journey across England by joining Morecambe in League Two on loan in January 2021. However, a prospective move to Scotland was forthcoming when Blackburn Rovers agreed to transfer him to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership in July 2021.
As a Kilmarnock player, Lyons has made impressive strides. Across the 2022-2023 and the 2023-2024 seasons, he notched up a combined total of 42 appearances and netted three goals. In the ongoing 2024-2025 season, he has already featured ten times in the league.
His career has been diversified not just by clubs, but competitions too. He made his mark in the League Cup 2024-2025 for Kilmarnock with one substitute appearance, featured in the Euro Qualifiers 2022-2024 for Northern Ireland with a start, and played in both the Europa League Qualifiers 2024-2025 for Kilmarnock with two starts, and the Nations League 2024-2025 for Northern Ireland with a substitute appearance.
