Introducing Benny Couto, a sturdy defender known primarily for his skills at left back. Couto was born in Portugal on 27th September 2003, making him 21 years of age. He currently plays for Cork City, standing at 5ft 10in (1.79m) and weighing in at 11st 6lb (73kg). As far as his contract with Cork City is concerned, it is set to run out on 30th November 2025, with little under 5 months left.
In terms of transfer history, Couto initially joined Oldham Athletic in the League Two in England back in July 2020. His debut season wasn't until 2022 - 2023, in which he featured in seven first team league matches for Oldham Athletic. But change was afoot for our valiant defender.
In September 2023, Couto moved on loan to Ashton United in the Northern Premier League in England, a move that was made permanent the following year in August 2024. However, Couto's stint at Ashton United wasn't made to last. In January 2025, he embarked on a new journey in the form of a transfer to Cork City, playing in the top tier Premier Division in the Republic of Ireland. The move was arranged for an undisclosed fee.
As we gaze upon season 2025, we find Couto front and centre in Cork City's defensive line-up. These shores may be different from his starting point of Portugal, but one thing is for certain, Couto is a name we'll be hearing a lot more of in the future.
