Benjamin Siegrist, born on 31 January 1992 making him 33 years old, hails from the mountains and valleys of Switzerland and stands tall in the goalkeeper's position for Genoa. He cuts a towering figure in the box with a height of 1.96m (6ft 5in) and a weight of 97kg (15st 3lb). The Switzerland international can be seen donning the number 31 jersey.
Siegrist's journey in professional football started with a notable move in July 2012 to England's Premier League with Aston Villa. A shift that mapped his initial trajectory in the convoluted swirl of topflight football. From Villa, he spent time on loan at Burton Albion and Cambridge United in England's League One in November 2013 and March 2014 respectively. Siegrist made three first team appearances for Cambridge United football club in the 2013/14 season.
The goalkeeper continued making pit stops at Leicester City and Wycombe Wanderers. His 2015 - 2016 spell with Wycombe Wanderers witnessed a minor burn in league matches with only one appearance.
However, the summer of 2016 manifested a change of scene for the Swiss international as he moved back to Switzerland to join Vaduz in the Challenge League. There he secured 27 apps in the first season followed by limited action with just five outings in the following 2017-2018 season.
Siegrist's career took a northerly turn when he moved to Scotland in July 2018 to don the colours of Dundee United. His tenure at Dundee spanned two seasons during which he racked up a total of 66 appearances in league play.
In July 2022, Siegrist's talent had him moving across town to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. A stay that coincided with some of his prime years and could only be depicted as a valuable period for both the player and the club. This move allowed the Swiss international to augment his already extensive experience with an enviable wealth of knowledge brought by the historic Scottish club.
Come July 2024, however, and Siegrist opted for a southerly, erratically eastern career shift transferring from Celtic to the Romanian side Rapid Bucureşti, before joining Genoa in Italy's Serie A on loan in January 2025, where at present he's made a solitary appearance this season. Throughout his career, Siegrist showcased his talent across different leagues and added an invaluable breadth of experience to his professional portfolio.
