Benjamin Mbunga Kimpioka, born on the 21st of February in the year 2000 (age 25 at the time of writing), is a dynamic forward hailing from Sweden. Largely operating as a striker for Scotland’s St Johnstone, Kimpioka cuts a formidable figure on the pitch standing at 5ft 11in (1.82m) and weighing in at a lean 10st 7lb (67kg). You can spot him on the turf donning the number 29 jersey.
Kimpioka began his foray into professional football as a trainee with Sunderland in England's Championship league in July 2016. Come March 2021, eager for game time he embarked upon a loan spell at Torquay United, a club situated in England’s National League South. This loan period proved to be short-lived, as he returned to his parent club, Sunderland, in July 2021.
However, his reunion with Sunderland was not a lengthy affair, as Kimpioka once again sought a move for more regular minutes on the pitch. In September of the same year, he was loaned out to Southend United in England's National League, only to return to Sunderland in November 2021 upon the conclusion of the loan.
In a surprise move in March 2022, Kimpioka transferred from Sunderland to AIK, a top tier side competing in Sweden’s Allsvenskan league, for an undisclosed sum. His debut season at AIK saw him make 16 first team appearances and score a solitary goal in league matches.
In January 2023, Kimpioka further spruced up his resume with a loan transfer to Luzern in Switzerland's Super League. Much like his stint at AIK, he managed to register six appearances and a goal for Luzern in the 2022-2023 season, before returning back to AIK.
The forward made the leap over the North Sea to Scotland, signing for St Johnstone in the Premiership in January 2024. His initial season, 2023-2024 saw him steady his footwork, accumulating 17 appearances and 3 goals within the league. However, the ongoing 2024-2025 season has him proving his mettle quite significantly, with a tally of 6 goals from 25 appearances thus far.
Besides showcasing his skills on the Premiership turf, Kimpioka also got the chance to whet his appetite for silverware in the 2024-2025 League Cup, where he enjoyed a splendid run, netting five goals in each of his five starts. Moreover, he also made a couple of appearances as a substitute in the Scottish Cup during the same season.
