Ben Davies is an English central defender, born on 11 August 1995 (age 31), now with Bolton Wanderers. He came through at Preston North End, but much of his early schooling came away from Deepdale, in the less forgiving setting of lower-league loans.
The most useful of those spells was at Fleetwood Town in 2016-17. He made 22 league appearances and scored once, a proper run of senior football rather than the usual token development detour. For a centre-half, that sort of season tends to matter more than any glowing academy report.
