Babacar Fati is a steely defender born on 1 February 2000 in the football-loving country of Portugal. Standing tall at 5ft 9in (1.77m) and lugging around 11st 6lb (73kg) of muscle, Fati primarily dominates the left back position for the Scottish team, Livingston. The number 3 jersey is where you'd find his name emblazoned.
According to the meticulous collectors of statistics over at Transfermarkt, our Portuguese defender has an estimated market value of around €350k. When converted to sensible British pounds, this tallies up at roughly around £300k.
Like a tale of globe-trotting adventure, Fati's history in football begins in August 2022 when he kissed goodbye to Sporting CP in Portugal's Liga for the distinctly chillier climates of Finland. Armed with a contract for SJK in the Veikkausliiga, Fati began his Nordic chapter. In his debut season, he made eight appearances in the first team, a modest reflection of the change and adjustment. However, the following season wasn't much better with only three first team appearances.
But like a true warrior, Fati found his footing soon. Season 2024 saw him stepping onto the field 25 times, not to mention skilfully manoeuvring the ball into the net thrice. The next season, Fati was almost a permanent fixture with 29 first team appearances and even crowned one of the matches with a goal of his own.
However, the Finnish winds started to lose their charm and in January 2026, he made his move to Scotland. His transfer to Livingston was enveloped in mystery with no disclosed figures. As a recent import, Fati’s start with his latest club has been modest thus far, with only three appearances in the current season of 2025-2026.
So, that’s Fati’s journey. From the sunny seacoasts of Portugal to the freezing climes of Finland, he now finds himself bracing the wonderful weathers of bonnie Scotland, playing solidly at the back for Livingston. A miraculous ride of a little under four years, and only time can tell what this left back’s destiny holds next.
