Ueda began his football career at Hosei University in the Japan Lower Leagues in January 2018. A year later, in July 2019, he transferred to Kashima Antlers in the J1 League, Japan. Ueda's debut season saw him score four goals in 13 matches. Over the next three seasons at Kashima Antlers, his performance steadily improved, scoring ten, fourteen, and ten goals in each subsequent season.
In July 2022, Ueda made a significant move in his career, transferring to Cercle Brugge in the Pro League in Belgium, for a fee of around £1.2m. His only season with them saw him net eighteen times in 34 appearances. Never one to stand still, Ueda transferred again in August 2023, this time to Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, Netherlands, a move which cost the Dutch club around £7.8m.
