Arthur Vermeeren (age 21) is a Belgian central defensive midfielder who first came through at Royal Antwerp, where he emerged as one of the more closely watched young players in Belgium. He is not a player built around headline numbers, and his game has tended to rest more on control, positioning and tidiness in possession than on anything showy.
His most productive league season came in 2023-24, when he scored once in 21 appearances for Antwerp. That was the spell that pushed him into a wider conversation beyond Belgium, and his value has since climbed to around £21.5 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Vermeeren later moved to RB Leipzig, though his time there has been limited in league terms so far. In 2026-27 he made one league appearance for Leipzig before returning to Royal Antwerp, where he added two more league appearances after going back.
At this stage, his career has been shaped by an early rise at Antwerp, a move to Germany, and a return to familiar ground. He remains a young midfielder with time still on his side and a fair bit of his story still to be written.
