Anthony Ralston, born on 16 November 1998 (age 27), is a Scotland right-back whose career has been shaped almost entirely at Celtic. He joined the club from Queen’s Park in January 2016 and has spent the bulk of his senior life trying to turn promise, patience and the occasional spell out on loan into a lasting place in the first-team squad.
Those early years were not straightforward. Ralston had to develop around the edges of a strong Celtic side, with loan football helping him get the minutes that were not always available in Glasgow. He was never a fashionable project, but he stayed in the building, kept improving, and eventually became a more reliable senior option than many might have expected.
His best league season came in 2021–22, when he scored four goals in 28 Premiership appearances. Across 12 seasons at Celtic, he has made 111 league appearances and scored seven league goals. During that time he has won eight Premiership titles, five League Cups and three Scottish Cups – a substantial haul, even for a player whose role has often been to support rather than headline the side.
Ralston remains part of the current Celtic squad, wearing number 51, and was still a regular first-team presence in 2025–26. He made 24 league appearances, along with two in the Scottish Cup, two in Champions League qualifying and five in the Europa League, scoring once in all competitions. He also featured for Scotland in World Cup qualifying during the same season.
His current market value is around £1.5m, according to Transfermarkt. Ralston’s career is not built on glamour, but on endurance, usefulness and a long association with Celtic that still has practical value in the current side.
