Amadou Haidara, born on 31 January 1998 (age 28), is a Mali international midfielder now with Lens, where he wears the number 21 shirt. His current market value is around £17m, according to Transfermarkt.
Haidara first made a wider mark at Red Bull Salzburg, with his most productive league season coming in 2017-18, when he scored three times in 31 league appearances. That spell set up the move that has shaped his career far more than any other: RB Leipzig.
Across seven seasons at Leipzig, Haidara made 159 league appearances and scored 11 league goals. He was not a headline act, but he became a durable part of a demanding Bundesliga side, used often enough and long enough for that period to stand clearly above the rest of his club career.
He is now at Lens, where his 2025-26 season has brought 13 appearances in all competitions and one goal, including seven Ligue 1 outings and three in the Coupe de France. He has also remained involved with Mali, making three appearances in African World Cup qualifying this season.
Haidara’s career runs from Salzburg promise to a long Leipzig spell, and now into a fresh stage in France with Lens. The Leipzig years remain the central part of the story.
