Alexander Nübel, born on the 30th of September 1996 in Germany, is currently applying his trade as a goalkeeper for Stuttgart. Standing at 6ft 3in (1.93m) and weighing 13st 3lb (84kg), he makes quite an imposing figure between the sticks. Nübel sports the number 33 jersey and has also had the honour of representing his home nation, Germany, at international level.
According to Transfermarkt, Nübel's worth on the football market is touted around the €12.00m mark, a figure that translates to just over £10m.
Nübel started his professional career in July 2014 when he signed for Paderborn 07 in the 2. Bundesliga in Germany. The following year, in August 2015, he traded Paderborn for Schalke 04, another 2. Bundesliga club at the time, for an approximate fee of £150k. His inception at Schalke saw him make a solitary first-team appearance in league matches in his debut 2015 - 2016 season.
Nübel's run at the first team in Schalke wasn't consistent, making a lone appearance in the 2017 - 2018 season. A series of turns of events saw him gain more game time in the 2018 - 2019 and 2019 - 2020 seasons with 18 and 26 appearances respectively.
In July 2020, Bayern Munich, a Bundesliga outfit in Germany, prized Nübel away from Schalke, but he had to be satisfied with a single appearance in his 2020 - 2021 season at the club. Not long after, in July 2021, Nübel was packed off on loan to Monaco at the French Ligue 1. He got significant game time here, making 38 first team appearances in both the 2021 - 2022 and 2022 - 2023 seasons.
Once his loan spell at Monaco expired in June 2023, Nübel returned to parent club Bayern Munich. Restricted to a few appearances during the 2020 - 2021 term, very soon in July 2023, Nübel found himself on another loan assignment, this time to Stuttgart, another Bundesliga team in Germany.
Since moving to Stuttgart, Nübel has strengthened his position with regular appearances, 30 in the 2023 - 2024 season, 34 in the 2024 - 2025 season and 22 half-way through the 2025 - 2026 season. His performances helped Stuttgart secure a place in the Europa League for 2025 - 2026 where he has started in eight games.
