Ah, Alex Lowry, a name that's as Scottish as a deep-fried Mars bar, born on the cusp of summer, June 23rd, 2003. This young bear of a lad chose to ply his trade in the wild, chaotic world of football, holding the midfield like it's nobody's business - primarily a central attacking midfielder for Rangers. Picture, if you will, a bloke standing tall at 5ft 10in (1.8m) and weighing in at 11st 4lb (72kg). A lad as sprightly as this one was destined to wear the number 51 - Why not?
Remember back to that fateful month of July in 2020, when wee Lowry first dug his footie boots into the sacred Rangers' training pitch. Like a grim Scottish summer, his debut season 2021 - 2022 was relatively cool. It yielded four appearances and a solitary goal. Whether by misfortune or mere chance, only five appearances graced his record the following 2022 - 2023 season, while the current 2024 - 2025 season hasn't blessed him with any first team matches, thus far.
Intriguingly (or not, depending on your inclination for gossip), Lowry apparently grew smitten with a desire for change in August 2023 and hopped over to Hearts while still in the Premiership. This was, of course, merely a dalliance - a loan, as it were. Perfecting his art elsewhere, at Hearts, Lowry laced up his boots for 12 league matches for the 2023 - 2024 season.
Alas, all good things must come to an end, and early in January 2024 our lad returned to Rangers at the close of his loan spell. Now, I swear we've heard this tale before. His return was marked again by the same elusive appearances. Four in 2021 -2022, one of which saw a ball finding the back of the net, five in 2022 - 2023, and for the current season, well, let's just say Lowry hasn't had the pleasure of kicking a ball in anger just yet.
