Alex Iacovitti, born on 2 September 1997 in England, is a seasoned defender who is currently signed with St Mirren, donning the number 4 jersey. The 27-year-old, standing tall at 6ft 2in (1.88m) and weighing 12st 12lb (82kg), primarily operates in a central defender's role.
His career kick-started in July 2015 with the Premier League club, Nottingham Forest. His inaugural season at the English club, in 2016 - 2017, saw him making a humble total of two first team appearances in league matches.
In order to accrue competitive football experience, Iacovitti was loaned out to Mansfield Town - a League One club - in August 2016 where he featured in eight matches.
He then returned back to Nottingham Forest in January 2017, resumed his struggle, and yet again, made two first team appearances in the league matches for the season.
In July 2017, his journey took another turn as he was shipped out on loan to Forest Green Rovers. He was relatively more involved on the pitch, accumulating 14 first team appearances and scoring his maiden goal in the National League for Forest Green Rovers in the 2017 - 2018 season.
Iacovitti's career continued to be a roller coaster as he was loaned to Oldham Athletic in January 2019, and subsequently made a permanent transfer to the League Two club in July of the same year.
Upon signing for Ross County in July 2020, he had a chance to experience Scottish football. Over the next three seasons, he grew in stature, marking up 103 league appearances and netting seven goals.
Iacovitti’s Scottish adventure took a brief respite in July 2023 when he moved back to England, signing for Port Vale. A year later, however, he was on the move again, this time securing a permanent transfer to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
St Mirren fans had a glimpse of his defensive prowess in the 2024 - 2025 season, where he turned out 14 times and managed to hit the back of the net once in league matches. He also had the privilege of participating in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 with one start and three appearances as a substitute, as well as the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025 with one start for St Mirren. As of the current 2025 - 2026 season, he is yet to make a league appearance.
