Alex Iacovitti, born on 2 September 1997 (age 27), is an English footballer who capably fills the central defender role for St Mirren. His physical presence is notable, standing at 6ft 2in (1.88m) and weighing in at 12st 12lb (82kg). Trusted with the number 4 jersey, his commanding presence is clear on the field.
Iacovitti's professional journey began in 2015 when he joined Nottingham Forest. During his debut season (2016 - 2017), he made a rather nominal appearance, featuring in merely two league matches.
The subsequent season saw Iacovitti loaned out to Mansfield Town, where he again made eight appearances. With his loan term fulfilled by the commencement of 2017, he returned to Nottingham Forest, where, remarkably, his contribution mirrored his previous tenure with the same club - two league appearances.
Another loan spell ensued in July 2017, this time to Forest Green Rovers. Iacovitti found more limelight there, managing 14 league appearances and even finding the back of the net once during the 2017-2018 season. However, the loan return to his parent club, Nottingham Forest, was a monotonous rerun of the past - two league appearances.
The narrative changed course in 2019 when Oldham Athletic roped in Iacovitti, first on loan and later making the deal permanent in July the same year.
A move north followed in July 2020, to Ross County in the Scottish Premiership for an undisclosed fee. Here, Iacovitti seemed to find his rhythm, making 36 appearances and scoring two goals in the 2020-2021 season. His contribution remained impressive in the subsequent seasons, featuring in 31 and 36 league matches and delivering consistent performances on the scoring front in the 2021-2023 period.
Returning to England in 2023, Iacovitti spent a stint at Port Vale before finding himself back in the Scottish Premiership in 2024 with St Mirren, once again for an undisclosed fee.
In the ongoing 2024-2025 season, Iacovitti has already made 14 appearances and scored once. He has also participated in the League Cup and the Scottish Cup for St Mirren and shown promise in the Conference League Qualifiers by scoring two goals in three substitute appearances.
