Alex Gogic, born on the 13th of April, 1994 in Cyprus, currently defends the honour of St Mirren F.C. as their trusty number 13, a central defender. As of yet, he has reached the respectable age of 31, standing 6ft (1.85m) tall and sporting a robust weight of 13st (83kg). Gogic has not only proven his mettle on Scottish soil but has also represented his birth nation, Cyprus, on an international stage.
His footballing journey has seen him travel from the sunny shores of Cyprus to the bustling heartlands of Scottish football. The first notable move in his career occurred in July 2013, when Gogic's talents were recognised by England's Swansea City, resulting in a swap from Greece's Olympiacos in the Super League. His transition from the Championship to League One in Scotland took place in February 2017, when he was signed on by Hamilton Academical.
Throughout his tenure there, his performance remained consistent and robust. His debut season of 2016/2017 saw seven first-team appearances, whilst the following seasons saw a steady rise in his pitch attendance with 18, 16, and 29 appearances respectively. He found the back of the net on two occasions during his stay at Academical.
Gogic's impressive show of form at Hamilton Academical caught the attention of Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, signifying the next important transfer in his career in July 2020. His consistent appearances and a goal in the 2020/2021 season continued to impress. However, his pitch time saw a slight dip with only nine first-team appearances during the 2021/2022 season.
The year 2022 brought another transition for Gogic as he moved to St Mirren on loan in January, solidifying his place as a key figure on the team with 13 first-team appearances and a goal to his name. This loan eventuated into a permanent transfer in August, providing him with ample opportunities to continue his career in Scottish football. Playing for St Mirren, he maintained his trend of regular first-team appearances, adequately defending the team's honour and bolstering their attack with his scoring under pressure.
In addition to his league exploits, Gogic also showed his worth in various cup competitions and international fixtures, including the League Cup 2025/2026 and the Scottish Cup 2024/2025 for St Mirren, as well as the Euro Qualifiers 2022/2024 and the Nations League 2024/2025 for Cyprus. Gogic's career thus far represents a solid legacy of consistent appearances and a couple of well-earned goals. A testament to his place not only as an indomitable defender but also a capable player in his teams' offensive forays.
