Albian Ajeti was born on 26 February 1997 in Switzerland. This forward, who primarily plays as a striker for Basel, is known for his ability to bring physicality to the game, standing at 6ft (1.83m) tall and weighing 12st 1lb (77kg). He proudly bears the number 23 on his jersey.
Ajeti first joined Basel in the Swiss Super League in January 2014. Amid ups and downs, his performances improved season after season, culminating in the 2018 - 2019 season wherein he made 32 first team appearances and netted 14 goals in league matches. Currently, as of the 2025 - 2026 season, he remains a leading force for Basel.
In January 2016, Ajeti made his first foray into the Bundesliga in Germany, when he transferred from Basel to Augsburg for a fee of around £700k. This venture was short-lived, as he returned to Switzerland on loan at St. Gallen in August of the same year. In July 2017, he made the move to St. Gallen permanent with a transfer fee of around £850k.
Ajeti returned to Basel in the Swiss Super League for a fee of around £1.3m in October 2017. His outstanding performances for Basel, which included 30 appearances and ten goals in the 2024 - 2025 season, earned him a move to the English Premier League with West Ham United in August 2019 for about £8m.
Following a less productive year with West Ham United, making just nine appearances in the 2019 - 2020 season, Ajeti moved to Scotland, signing with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in August 2020 for around £4.5m. Over two seasons, he made 27 appearances and scored eight goals for the Hoops.
Ajeti's stint with Celtic was followed by a brief loan spell with Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga in the 2022 - 2023 season. Later, he transferred from Celtic to Gaziantep in the Turkish Süper Lig in September 2023 for a fee of around £500k.
Ajeti, once again, returned to his roots at Basel in February 2024 after a brief time playing in Turkey. Here, as noted previously, he currently continues his evident improvement season-on-season in the Super League of his native Switzerland.
