Ademola Lookman, born on 20 October 1997 (age 28), is a Nigeria international forward now with Atlético Madrid. He came through at Charlton Athletic before moving to Everton, where promise was obvious enough but regular rhythm was harder to find.
The loan to RB Leipzig was an important early step, giving him senior football away from the usual Premier League noise. Later spells at Fulham and Leicester helped round out his game, even if they did not make him feel like a settled, finished article. That came more clearly at Atalanta.
His best league season so far came in Bergamo in 2024–25, when he scored 15 goals in 31 appearances for Atalanta. That was the point at which his productivity properly caught up with the talent that had followed him since his teens.
At Atlético Madrid, wearing number 22, Lookman remains a regular first-team presence in 2025–26. He has scored 13 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions, including four goals in 11 LaLiga matches, three in the Copa del Rey and three in the Champions League. He has also stayed involved with Nigeria, making 10 World Cup qualifying appearances this season. His market value is around £34m, according to Transfermarkt.
Lookman’s career has moved through loans, a productive spell in Italy and a current role at Atlético where he is still being used regularly and contributing goals.
