Scotland-born Adam Montgomery, a sturdy defender born on 18 July 2002 and favouring the left-back position, currently plies his trade with Livingston while donning their number 3 jersey. At 5ft 8in (1.73m) tall and weighing in at 9st 6lb (60kg), Montgomery has made a name for himself in the combative world of Scottish football.
Montgomery's professional journey began with Celtic in 2020, after serving an apprenticeship with the club since 2009. He made his debut in the 2020-2021 season, making two first team appearances in league matches. The subsequent 2021-2022 season saw him take to the pitch eight times in Celtic's green and white hoops.
January 2022 marked a new chapter in Montgomery's career as he went out on loan to fellow Premiership club Aberdeen. Before returning to Celtic, he recorded seven first team appearances for the Dons. On his return to Celtic Park in June 2022, he once again featured in the first-team plans, maintaining his previous season's record of eight league appearances.
Further loan stints followed in quick succession. July 2022 marked a temporary move to St Johnstone in the Championship, where he enjoyed significant playing time with 28 league appearances in the 2022-2023 season. Upon his return to Celtic in June 2023, Montgomery again featured eight times in league matches for the Bhoys.
July 2023 saw a temporary shift to English football as the Scotsman joined Fleetwood Town in League Two, during which time he was recalled briefly in January 2024. This was immediately followed by another loan period at Motherwell, before rejoining the ranks at Celtic a month later. His tenure at Celtic, disrupted though it was by various loans, saw him making consistent appearances when available, with eight caps in each of his two main seasons with the club.
In February 2025, yet another loan beckoned, this time with Queen's Park in Scotland's Championship. Here, Montgomery not only proved his defensive skills with 12 league appearances but also showed his goal-scoring aptitude with one goal to his name. June 2025 marked the conclusion of this loan spell, and he again returned to Celtic, his boyhood club.
His most recent loan spell commenced in July 2025 with Livingston in the Premiership. So far, eight first team appearances have been made in the current 2025-2026 season. Notably, he has found the net once during Livingston's League Cup campaign, adding a valuable goal to his professional tally.
