Aaron Donnelly

Aaron Donnelly of Dundee was born in Magherafelt, N. Ireland on 8 June 2003 (age 22).

Aaron Donnelly, a Northern Irish professional footballer, was born on 8 June 2003 and is presently at the young age of 22. Standing at 6 feet (1.85 metres), and weighing 11 stone 9 pounds (74 kg), Donnelly primarily holds the position of a central defender, presently for Scottish Premiership side Dundee, donning the number 6 jersey. Despite his young age, Donnelly has already gained international recognition, representing Northern Ireland's senior football squad.

According to Transfermarkt, Donnelly's current market value is approximately £340k.

Donnelly's football journey began in the English Premier League with Nottingham Forest in July 2019, joining as a trainee. After serving time at the club, he was loaned out to League One side Port Vale in England, in January 2023. Throughout the 2022 - 2023 season at Port Vale, Donnelly steadily made a name for himself, making nine first team league appearances and putting his name on the score sheet.

In July 2023, Donnelly packed his bags to explore the Scottish Premiership, transferring on loan to Dundee. Throughout the 2023 - 2024 season, Donnelly made 21 first team league appearances, a statistic which brought attention to his growing abilities. The following season, the 2024 - 2025 season, saw further development, with Donnelly making 11 first team appearances and recording a goal.

Shortly after his tenure at Dundee, Donnelly was loaned out again, this time to Colchester United in English League Two, in August 2024. Nonetheless, he wouldn't be away from the Scottish Premiership for long, as Donnelly made a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest to Dundee, albeit for an undisclosed fee in January 2025.

The repeat spell at Dundee saw him clock a further 21 first team appearances in the 2023 - 2024 season, 11 appearances in the 2024 - 2025 season and he has already graced the field twice in the current 2025 - 2026 season. Donnelly's performance has not been confined to the league alone, he has also participated in the League Cup 2025 - 2026 with one start and made three starts in the Scottish Cup 2024 - 2025.

Though his career is still in its early stage, Aaron Donnelly's progression charts a promising trajectory, from English trainee to international defender and a key component of the Dundee line-up.
